The BMW Group has announced the BMW Personal Pilot L3 an automated driving system that will soon be available in the new 7 Series based on a press release by BMW on Nov. 10. Dubbed BMW Personal Pilot L3 BMW says this is a "first of its kind" system that allows "drivers to redirect their focus to other in-vehicle activities".

 

Drivers of cars equipped with the optional BMW Personal Pilot L3 that have already been delivered will be able to add the BMW Highway Assistant to its range of functions free of charge from 08/24.

 

BMW?s Level 3 autonomous (self-driving) system named Personal Pilot L3 costs ?6 000 ($6 483) and will be available for ordering within the manufacturer?s latest 7 Series generation of luxury sedans in Germany by the end of this year.

 

BMW has just launched its Personal Pilot L3 as a ?6000 (£5200) option on the 7-series in Germany although it?s not yet approved for use in the UK.

 

Called the ?BMW Personal Pilot L3? BMW will in March 2024 start offering offer Level 3 autonomy as a ?6 000 (AU $10 000) option for the 7 series ? but only for customers in Germany. BMW claim that with L3 activated drivers will have the ability to concentrate on secondary in-vehicle activities away from what is happening on the road.
